Series I Won’t Be Finishing

I always feel bad about not finishing a series. Mainly because there’s almost always a fandom behind it and/or there’s the thought that *maybe it gets better.*

But sometimes, I just don’t give a damn for either of those things and want to spend my time reading books that grab me from the start.

Here are some books that didn’t do that for me.

Favorite Stand-Alones

So, I made a list of my favorite series quite awhile back and so I thought “Hey, why not make one for my favorite stand-alones?”

Because, honestly, sometimes series can be exhausting. They just keep going and going and going. But with stand-alones, you know there’s an end.

And, thus, here we are… 😛

What Makes Me Follow A Blog

I’m very conservative when it comes to deciding who I should follow.

To be exact, I only follow 37 blogs, which seems to be unusual because I’ve come across a lot of bloggers who talk about following over 100 blogs and what a chore it is to get through the Reader.

But I’m not one of those people. I am really picky when it comes to choosing who I follow.

I first ask myself these three questions:

  1. Does the blog pull me in?
  2. Does the blog keep making me want to come back?
  3. Does the blog keep me inspired?

Series are probably some of the most intimidating books you can choose to immerse yourself in because you are committing a good amount of time and not knowing if it will give you the ending you want, or stay true to the characters, or continue to advance the plot, etc. throughout the installments.

But series can also be rewarding with all the lessons it can teach.

Let’s take a look back at and celebrate some of my favorite series…

Review: Everything, Everything

spoilerfree

I finally read Everything, Everything! Go me!

First, I need to admit that while I was reading this I got to a little past the halfway point and started reading up on SCID. I found an article about this book written by the mother of someone whose daughter has SCID and the BIG PLOT TWIST was SPOILED FOR ME. Emoji Pngs (9)

I was so, so disappointed. My review will not be doing this to you because I love you, ok? But my enjoyment of the book definitely suffered because the big twist was now expected.

Recommended: Required Readings

I think I just heard a collective groan at the words “required readings.”

Does anyone actually ~enjoy~ being assigned to read something? I would wager that most don’t.

But some of these books that were required for class, I actually rather enjoyed. Here are a few of those gems Emoji Pngs (1)
